VLSI Solution's forthcoming VS1063 gets its own product page. This page will contain more and more VS1063 information the closer its release date gets.
The new VS1053 PCM Mixer plugin allows PCM audio to be played on top of the normal playback at 8kHz, 12kHz, 16kHz, and 24kHz samplerates. This makes it possible to create sound effects that are independent of the sound being played from the main stream. An example of thsi would be UI response sounds.

VLSI Solution announces VS1063, the world's most advanced audio codec chip. In addition to being able to decode almost all popular audio formats, it can also encode in MP3, OGG, G.711, G.722 and PCM formats, making it an ideal recorder or streaming source. In addition, a full-duplex codec mode makes VS1063 ideal for two-way communication applications.

A new version, 2.08b, of the VLSI Solution Integrated Development Environment VSIDE has been published. The new version provides, among other things, official VS1000 support and code memory overlays.
