VLSI Solution is proud to present a new distributor partnership with Silver I Co., Ltd. in Japan. Silver I Co. is an experienced electronic component distributor headquartered in Yokohama-city and having offices in Osaka and HongKong. As a consequence of this agreement, Japanese customers now have a contact in their own language as well as full-hearted support from VLSI to supply components which fulfill Japanese quality standards.

Encoder Demonstration v1.00 for VS1063 has been published. This demonstration contains Windows and Linux binaries of the VS1063 Ogg Vorbis encoder so that users can test VS1063 encoding quality on their PCs.

VLSI Solution's flagship MP3 encoder IC VS1063 samples are available now. To receive samples for development, contact sales@vlsi.fi. Production devices are expected to be available in September 2011.

VSIDE v2.09 has been released. Among other things the new release includes help pages and increased emualator stability.

VLSI has today significantly lowered the MSRPs of several prototyping and developer boards and some peripheral components, making them much more affordable for product development. The changes are as follows:

• VS1053 USB HiFi Player has been lowered from 200 to 100 euro.

• VS1000D-L Developer Board has been lowered from 160 to 70 euro.

• VS1053B-L, VS1011E-L, VS1003B-L and VS1103B-L Prototyping Boards have been lowered from 80 to 40 euro.

• RS232 Adapter has been lowered from 30 to 25 euro.

VS1063 Programmer's Guide has been released.

The VS1063 Programmer's Guide is intended to be a living document which will be updated and developed along VSIDE to make it as easy as possible to both use VS1063 as well as developing applications and plugins for it.

This finalizes the VS1063 document trilogy which consists of the VS1063 Datasheet, VS1063 Hardware Guide, and VS1063 Programmer's Guide.

VLSI has released today the VS1063 Hardware Guide. This is the second installation of the trilogy, of which the VS1063 Datasheet has already been published earlier. The last installation, the VS1063 Programmer's Guide, will be published later this quarter.

In addition, also a VS1053 to VS1063 Migration Guide has been published. This document should make migration to VS1063 easier by pointing out where the most significant differences between the two ICs lie.
